About House of Fabrosanz

A South African fashion house built on heritage

House of Fabrosanz (FRS) is a South African fashion house founded in 2011 by designer Sandisiwe (Sandi) Mazibuko. FRS stands for Fabulous Royalty Sandi, and we design for the stylish, modern working woman who isn't afraid to stand out. Every signature print is designed in-house to honour the symbols, colours and textures of South African cultures, so you can wear your heritage every day, not only at imicimbi (traditional events).

Our story

Sandi was born and raised in KwaDabeka, a township in KwaZulu-Natal. During the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, she didn't want to wear a soccer jersey, so she designed her own World Cup celebration dresses, with South African flag badges on the pockets and customers' names personalised on each one. So many people asked where to buy them that she realised she was onto something, and in 2011 FabroSanz was born.

With no grants or outside funding, Sandi grew the brand through her own marketing skills, custom-made designs and a loyal online community. In 2014 FRS took its pop-up stores to cities around South Africa, and today we dress customers across the country and abroad from our home in Sandton.

Our signature South African prints

The Nguni Print® draws on the shared art of the Nguni peoples: circles inspired by Zulu beadwork and the isicholo hat, black stripes from the Xhosa umbhaco, and geometric diamond shapes from Ndebele mural painting.

The Tsonga Print is inspired by the bold traditional cloths Tsonga women tie across the chest and wrap around the head.

The Venda Print reinterprets the brightly coloured lines and embroidery of traditional Venda cloth.

The Tshwane Print is inspired by the Union Buildings in Pretoria, a symbol of South Africa's unity and history.

Beyond our prints, Office Opulence is our signature workwear for women, and FRSMAN brings our heritage prints to menswear.
